Install ESM Riser

Continue to 

“Install ESM Riser” on page 154

 to replace the ESM riser.

Install ESM Riser

1.

Consider your first step:

■

If you removed the ESM riser as part of another procedure, and you will not be installing

new components, go to 

Step 6

.

■

Otherwise, continue with the next step.

2.

Unpack the ESM riser from its packaging and place it on an antistatic mat.

If you will be replacing the ESM as well, unpack the new ESM and place it on an antistatic mat.

3.

Thread the ESM cable through the opening in the ESM riser.

4.

Place the ESM into the riser and replace the ESM riser cover.

5.

Connect the ESM cable to the ESM riser.

6.

Position the ESM riser over the screw posts on the motherboard and lightly

press down on the ESM riser until it seats into the connector.

You must position the ESM riser as shown in the following illustration. Otherwise, the ESM

riser???s connector will not align properly with the motherboard connector. When installed

correctly, you will feel the ESM riser seat into the motherboard connector.

7.

Secure the ESM riser using three Phillips screws.
