Drive Tray Removal and Replacement
The drive tray is a CRU that can be removed and replaced while the library is
online.
•
Add a Drive to the Media Validation Pool
Add IBM LTO6 or higher drives to the pool to dedicate them for media validation.
These drives are invisible to host applications and can only be used for media
validation.

Remove a Drive from the Media Validation Pool
Drives remain dedicated for media validation until you explicitly remove them from
the media validation pool.
Supported Tape Drives
The SL150 supports certain generations and manufacturers of LTO drives.
You can install a mix of HP and IBM LTO drives of various generations within the
library. The library supports the following drive types:
•
HP LTO half-height generation 5 or 6 SAS or short wavelength FC interface
•
IBM LTO half-height generation 6, 7, or 8 SAS or short wavelength FC interface
