Please note that external hard disk drives must be formatted as “FAT” (File Allocation Table) format in order to read
and write to the disk. NTFS (New Technology File System) format is supported for ‘read’ only, and will not enable you
to write to the disk.
It is possible to re-format your external hard drive in FAT32 format through the GlobeSurfer
®
X.1 device if you require
read/write functionality.
Please note: It is highly recommended that external hard drives be separately powered. For external hard drives that
require power over their USB cable, it is highly recommended that the hard drive be connected to the
GlobeSurfer
®
X.1 device while the GlobeSurfer
®
X.1 is turned off. In the event an external hard drive is connected to
the GlobeSurfer
®
X.1 while it is turned on, the sudden power drain on the GlobeSurfer
®
X.1 device while the external
hard drive initially powers up, may cause the GlobeSurfer
®
X.1 to hang.
