Function/applications
The carbon dioxide concentration (CO
2
) is generally accepted
as a good indicator of the foot traffic load on a room. Sufficient
ventilation can also be a countermeasure against the spread of
viruses and bacteria – the cause for illnesses, sick absence, and
the resulting loss in productivity. Studies show that CO
2
-based
ventilation management cuts heating costs.
The CO2TRH is designed to measure temperature, relative
humidity and carbon dioxide concentration of indoor air (e.g.
conference rooms, hotels, hospitals, schools), and to control the
ventilation system based on demand. The sensor consists of a
membrane connected to a measurement chamber. The installed
diffusion-based carbon dioxide sensor facilitates a stable and
reliable, high-precision signal.
The installed relay closes at values of > 1,000 ppm CO
2
and
opens at values of < 900 ppm. This also supports direct signa-
ling of excessive concentrations or supplemental ventilation.
Self-calibration is performed automatically every time the
power supply is connected and at regular intervals thereafter. In
order to ensure optimum self-calibration, the ventilation should
bring the CO
2
concentration to normal for a few minutes at least
every week.
Note:
Connect analog outputs before taking readings. After instal-
lation, the sensor should remain connected to power to allow
the CO
2
sensor cell to run in.
