Progressive Conversion
DVD-V
There are two types of source content in pictures recorded in DVD-
Video: film content (pictures recorded from films at 24 frames per
second) and video content (video signals recorded at 30 frames per
second). Make this selection according to the type of content being
viewed.
Auto:
Displays this operation normally.
The DVD Player automatically detects source content,
film or video, of playback source, and converts it in the
progressive output format in an appropreate method.
Video:
The DVD Player filters video signal, and converts it in
the progressive output format appropriately.
Suitable for playback of video content pictures.
Film:
The DVD Player converts film content pictures in the
progressive output format appropriated. Suitable for
playback of film content pictures. The progressive
output feature will be most effective under this selection.
Note
Depending on the disc, pictures may be cut off or doubled. In this case, select
“Video”.
PAL/Auto
VCD
DVD-V
PAL:
Select to play PAL discs.
Connect a PAL TV to view pictures.
Auto:
The DVD Player automatically detects PAL and NTSC
video systems of discs.
Connecting a multisystem TV (PAL/NTSC compatible)
is needed to view pictures.
Note
A playback picture may be distorted temporarily when the detected signal
changes between PAL and NTSC on the disc.

You can fine adjust picture quality and store up to 3 picture setting
in the memory of the DVD Player. (Only when connected to a
PROGRESSIVE TV.)
To select a preset memory setting:

Select the video output of pictures recorded in 4:3 format. (Only
when connected to a PROGRESSIVE TV.)
4:3:
Displays images in 4:3 aspect ratio with masking bars to
the left and right of the picture.
Full:
Displays pictures expanded horizontally to fill the 16:9
screen.
