Enjoying Audio Sources

—Continued

You can use the A-1VL as power amplifier by connecting a preamplifier.

Using the DIRECT Function

DIRECT

1

Press the DIRECT button.

ON:

The DIRECT function is enabled. When connecting a preamplifier to the A-1VL, the A-1VL will

work as a power amplifier. The audio signal from the component connected to the preamplifier will be
output.

OFF:

The audio signal from the component connected to the A-1VL will be output.

Notes:

• While the DIRECT function is turned on, the A-1VL works as a power amplifier and the VOLUME

control of the A-1VL will not change the volume level. Instead, when you turn off the DIRECT
function, the A-1VL outputs the audio signal at the level that its volume control is positioned. Take
notice the A-1VL’s VOLUME control position before turning off the DIRECT function.

• Even when the DIRECT function is enabled, the audio signal from the component selected using

the input selector control will be output through the PREOUT terminal.

Recording

Unless you have the full consent of the copyright holder, copyright laws prohibit using your
recordings for anything other than personal enjoyment!

1

Select an input source to record.

Turn the Input selector control to select the component that outputs the source you want to record.
The signal from the component connected to the LINE 2 terminal cannot be recorded.

2

Prepare the recorder.

• Put the recorder into recording standby state.
• Adjusting the recording level should be performed on the recorder.
• See your recorder’s manual for more information.

3

Start playback on the source component.

Start playback on the component selected in step 1.

Note:

If you select another input source during recording, the newly selected input source will be recorded.
