Troubleshooting

Please take measurements on a floor with a

hard flat surface

Warm yourself up and wait until your blood

circulation has returned to normal before

taking measurements

Slightly moisten the soles of your feet with a

wet towel before taking measurements.

Replace the batteries

Insert batteries

(           “3. Inserting or replacing batteries”)
Be sure the batteries are inserted correctly,

note the polarity

(           “3. Inserting or replacing batteries”)

Allow the unit to warm up until the

electrodes no longer feel cold to the touch,

then take measurements

Do not touch, move or place anything on top of the main unit

before the display reads “0.0 kg” otherwise the measurements

may be incorrect.

A fully lit display means that the device is preparing to take

measurements. Moving or applying a load to the device before the

display reads “0.0 kg” may cause an error (“Err”) or (         “10. If

you think results are unlikely…”) , and sometimes measurement

cannot be taken correctly.

Measurements will not be

taken correctly if you are

wearing socks.

Touch the       to turn on the power

After lighting up fully, “0.0kg” will appear

Do not touch, move or place anything on top of the main unit

before the display reads “0.0kg”.

This may cause measurements to be incorrect.

After lighting up fully, “0.0 kg” will appear.

What is BMI?

When your ideal weight is BMI “22”,

This product calculates BMI from the “height” registered in your personal data and your
“weight” measurement.

BMI = Weight (kg) ÷ Height (m) ÷ Height (m)

Ideal body weight (kg) = 22 x Height (m) x Height (m)

What is body fat percentage?

Body fat percentage (%) = (body fat weight (kg) ÷

weight (kg)) x 100

This is the ratio of the weight of body fat to body weight.

What is visceral fat level?

This is calculated using an equation developed by Omron. Abdominal CT scan imaging was
used to determine to the amount of fat surrounding internal organs and the results
categorised into 30 levels.

The ideal BMI is said to be “22”. People within this range are less susceptible to illnesses
caused by obesity or thinness, and are likely to have long lives.
Your ideal weight, or in other words, your weight when your BMI is 22, can be determined
using the following formula.

Ex.) The ideal weight for someone who is 155cm tall: 22 × 1.55 × 1.55 = 52.855 →

approximately 52.9kg
However, since BMI is determined on the basis of height and weight, an appropriate
judgment cannot be made for athletes and other people whose heavy body weight is due to
muscularity.

Standards for judging body fat percentage differs between

men and women.

Though we tend to view body fat as a bad thing, fat actually stores energy, protects our
internal organs and performs several other important roles.
It is of course not good to have too much of it, but neither is it good to have too little.
Since men and women accumulate body fat differently, judgment standards also differ.

Using the “Guest” function to take measurements

What is the Guest Function?

Select your personal number

To take measurements using your personal number, you must register your personal

data first.

(         “5. Registering personal data”)
If your personal data is not registered, you can use the “Guest” function to take your measurements.

Power will turn ON with a touch to              . Please proceed to step 2.

Use             to select “Personal Number” or “Guest”,
then touch       (Set).

8. Index

Please register your personal number or

register as a Guest before taking your

measurement

(           “5. Registering personal data”

“7. Measuring body weight and composition”)
Be sure to select the correct personal

number or register as a Guest before taking

your measurement.

(           “7. Measuring body weight and

composition”)

The screen example shows “body fat percentage: standard” and “visceral fat percentage:

standard”.

Use the sections where                 is displayed as a rough standard for judgment.

For details of each index, visit our homepage (http://www.healthcare.omron.co.jp)
