Checking Data Link Status
Section 5-4
5-4-1
LED Indicators
Check the LNK, M/A, and RING indicators on the front of the unit.
The LNK indicator will be lit at all nodes participating in the data links as long
as operation is normal. The mode (manual/automatic) of any node active in
the network can be checked using the M/A indicator, regardless of whether
that node is participating in the data links. Using the RING indicator, it is also
possible to check the transmission path format set for an active network, as
well as the status of cables when in token-ring mode. See 10-1 Troubleshoot-
ing Using Indicators for details.
5-4-2
Data Link Status Area
The data link status area can be used to check for errors when data link does
not operate normally even though no abnormality has been detected by the
PLC’s CPU Unit or the Controller Link Unit. The data link status area contains
the data link status information shown below. This status information is stored
in the same words for CS-series, CVM1, and CV-series.
The number of words used for data link status, and the information that is
reflected, depends on the setting (8-bit or 4-bit format) for the data link status
storage format specification in the DM parameters area, as shown in the fol-
lowing diagram.
See 10-2 Status Area and Troubleshooting for troubleshooting procedures
and see 5-4-5 Data Link Status Storage Format for details on storage format.
