Drain Pipe Installation
The drain pipe is used to drain water away
from the unit. Improper installation may cause
unit and property damage.
CAUTION
•
These units operate with a positive pressure at
the drain connections and a drain trap is required.
The trap needs to be installed as close to the unit
as possible. Make sure the top of the trap is below
the connection to the drain pan to allow complete
drainage of the pan.
Insulate all piping to prevent condensation,
which could lead to water damage.
•
If the drain pipe is bent or installed
incorrectly, water may leak and cause a
water-level switch malfunction.
•
In HEAT mode, the outdoor unit will
discharge water. Ensure that the drain hose
is placed in an appropriate area to avoid
water damage and slippage.
•
DO NOT
pull the drain pipe forcefully. This
could disconnect it.
NOTE ON PURCHASING PIPES
Installation requires a polyethylene tube
(Internally threaded tube 3/4 inch), which can
be obtained at your local hardware store or
dealer.
Indoor Drainpipe Installation
1. Cover the drain pipe with heat insulation
to prevent condensation and leakage.
Note:
Horizontal runs must also have an
anti-siphon air vent (standpipe) installed to
avoid air being trapped.
