GO...and Start Taking Pictures

Now, you’re ready to take professional-quality photos with your Olympus C-2500L SLR
filmless digital camera!

1. With the Mode Dial set to A, P or M, press the FOCUS button located below the LCD 

monitor to choose your own focal settings.

Select 

AUTO FOCUS

, or choose      for 

Manual Focus, then move the Jog Dial up or down to set the focal distance; Macro 
Focus      or Super Macro       for extreme close up shots; or Infinity       .

2. For a telephoto or wide-angle shot, use the 3X Zoom lever, which surrounds the 

shutter button.

Simply press the lever toward 

T

to zoom in with telephoto; press it 

toward 

W

to zoom out. 

Note:

The optical zoom lens is an internal zoom, so zooming in and out will not cause the 

lens barrel to retract or extend.

3. Point and Shoot.

Using the optical viewfinder: 

• Compose your subject.
• Depress the Shutter release button halfway. The green lamp inside the viewfinder will 

light when focused.

• Depress the Shutter release button fully to take the picture.
• Two shor t beeps indicate the shot has been taken.
• When the Green lamp stops blinking you’re ready to take your next picture.

Wear glasses?

Use the dioptic correction dial to adjust the viewfinder until the cross hairs

are sharp. Now ever ything in the viewfinder is in per fect focus no matter your prescription.

4. If a flash is needed, the orange lamp in the viewfinder will light when the Shutter 

release button is pushed halfway. Press the Pop Up flash      button to the left of the

lens barrel.

The flash will pop up. Then use the following buttons located below the

top LCD 

screen to select from:

FLASH:

Choose from 

AUTO-FLASH

for automatic flash firing; 

RED-EYE 

REDUCTION FLASH

to eliminate the phenomena of red-eye; 

FILL-IN FLASH

for forced flash activation, or 

OFF

for forced off flash.

METERING:

Choose Spot Metering      to obtain the right exposure of your 

subject regardless of the backlit situation.

An optional advanced dedicated external flash, the Olympus FL-40 also is 
available for maximum flash flexibility and user control. This flash may be 
connected to the hot shoe located on the top right side of the camera.

Enjoy Your Pictures

With the Olympus C-2500L SLR Filmless Digital Camera, you can easily view, save and
download the photos you want—and delete the ones you don’t.

Viewing Pictures

After you’ve taken a picture, you can view it immediately on the color LCD screen.

• To review the pictures stored in the C-2500L, select the Playback Mode       on the 

Mode Dial. Use the right/left arrows on the Jog Dial to scroll through all the pictures 
saved on your Smar tMedia or CompactFlash card.

• To display a multiple number of images, simply press the Zoom lever toward 

W

for a 4-

image index, and fur ther toward 

W

for a 9-image index.  Move the Jog Dial left and 

right to move from frame to frame; up and down to move from index to index.

• To magnify an image, press the Zoom lever toward 

T

to view details up to 4x their 

normal size.  Move the display position using the     button located below the Zoom 
lever and move the Jog Dial in the direction you want to scroll.

• You also can review these pictures through any video source such as a Video or TV 

monitor with standard video input capabilities. Simply connect the C-2500L SLR to the 
video device using the video out cable included with your camera. All connection por ts 
to the C-2500L including the AC power plug can be found by opening the small panel 
on the lower left side of the camera body.

Other Playback Options

With the Mode Dial set to      , press the MENU      button.  Then, move the Jog Dial down
to scroll through the Playback menu; move it left or right to make your specific selections.
Press

to confirm your selections: 

Media Selected

: Press the 

SM/CF

button to the left of the 

MENU

button to 

indicate the type of card used: Smar tMedia or CompactFlash.

Auto Frame Advance

: Star ts Slide Show Mode for LCD display, television or 

VCR playback.

COPY

:      Copies a single image from one media card to another;        copies all 

images stored on the card.

CARD SETUP

: Select       to erase all information on a Smar tMedia (SM) or 

CompactFlash (CF) card. Select    to format a card. 

NOTE:

Formatting a card erases all existing data on the card, even locked images.

LCD DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS

: To change the brightness of the color LCD screen, move

the arrows using the Jog Dial; left to decrease, right to increase. You will notice the 
live preview change as you make adjustments.

Saving Pictures

• Notice the green 

LOCK

button below the top LCD screen. To save a picture, you 

must be in Playback mode      . Press the         button while the image you want to 
save is displayed on the color LCD screen. The lock icon will appear on the screen.

Deleting Pictures

• To delete a picture, press the red Erase button        below the top LCD screen.  The 

LCD display will ask you to confirm your selection; use the Jog Dial to select 

YES

or 

NO

and then the 

OK

or        button. When you delete a picture, you’ve instantly freed up 

space on your Smar tMedia or CompactFlash card for more pictures. So with the 
C-2500L SLR Filmless Digital Camera, there’s no more wasted film or developing costs
for pictures you don’t really want.

Downloading Pictures

• Please refer to your Olympus Digital Camera QuickStar t Guide for easy-to-follow 

instructions on how to install the enclosed software titles that will enable you to 
download, view, edit, manipulate and store your images on your computer.

Optional Accessories

For even more photographic creativity and enjoyment, Olympus offers a variety of optional
accessories for use with your C-2500L SLR Filmless Digital Camera:

• An advanced dedicated external flash, the Olympus FL-40, is available for maximum 

flash flexibility and user control.

• AC Adapter to ensure a consistent power supply when downloading images.

• Additional and larger size Smar tMedia and CompactFlash cards are available in 8MB, 

16MB and 32MB increments.

• Advanced connection devices: PCMCIA Smar tMedia Adapter MA3, or FlashPath floppy
