Use a needle-nose pliers to carefully reinstall the e-clip
into the ring groove in the end of the locking
thumbscrew (see
), to retain the thumbscrew.

Remove the protective cardboard and the cloth or
tissue from the dovetail recess for the viewing head
(see
Figure 46

Remove protection for the exposed optics
This completes the overhaul of the BHSU/BHTU locking
thumbscrew. The newly refurbished thumbscrew is
now ready to provide many more years of trouble-free
service (see

Nosepiece Slide Mount
There were two versions of nosepiece slide mounts
used on the BHS/BHT microscopes. The older style is
shown in
, and the newer style is shown in
. Note that the nosepiece slide mounts rarely
require service but are included here for the sake of
completeness.

stand per the following.

Carefully loosen and remove the nosepiece locking
thumbscrew from the pillar arm (see
