The OMX-MDA20S is shipped factory calibrated for UNITY operation for 1.975 Vp-p of unbalanced audio and 1Vp-p of
Video terminated into 75 Ohms. There is no need to terminate unused video or audio outputs 1-20. To use the OMX-
MDA20S as a 1 x 20 distribution system, simply connect the source signal to INPUT for Video and Audio Left-Right as
indicated on the rear panel. Be certain to observe all video termination rules as covered in this manual.
Every video signal processing device must be properly terminated. If a product is designed for “insertion” in the video
signal path, it will have “looped inputs”. Simply put, a Looped Input is a passive connector feed through of the input sig-
nal. This allows the signal to connect to one device & continue on to connect to another device. Looping can continue
for many devices accepting the same signal. The last device in the loop MUST BE PROPERLY TERMINATED BY 75

terminator is provided
with the unit and is installed on the “loop
out” connector (as shown in the diagram
at the right). If the OMX-MDA20S is the
only distribution amplifier in the system,
there is no need to change anything.
Just connect the source signals to the input connectors and power up the unit.

Should the OMX-MDA20S be used in a multiple configuration with other OMX-MDA20S units or any other compatible
video device, then read the following notes carefully. IMPROPER 75
Ω
VIDEO TERMINATION CAN CAUSE THE VIDEO
SIGNAL TO DISTORT AND APPEAR TO BE MALFUNCTIONING.
In a case where Two OMX-MDA20S units are looped to provide a 1 x 40 system, connect the source signal to input of
the first unit. Remove the terminator installed directly below the input connector. Connect a cable to this connector and
the other end to the second OMX-MDA20S input. If the second OMX-MDA20S is to be the last device in the loop, IT
MUST BE TERMINATED; LEAVE THE SUPPLIED 75

TERMINATOR INSTALLED. Store all removed Terminators
for future use !
Using the same method, AUDIO can be looped as well, but there is no need to provide terminations for the audio sig-
nal.
