OBH Nordica Nemo Water Boiler
Before use
Before the water boiler is taken into use for the first time, please read this instruction
manual thoroughly and keep it for future use.
How to use the water boiler
Fill water into the boiler – check with the external water level indicator and close the
lid. Do not fill when the boiler is placed on the base. Do not use the water from the
first couple of boiling changes as the boiler may contain minor residual production
impurities.
Please note! The water boiler is equipped with a hinged, lockable safety lid which
reduces the scalding hazard considerably as the lid will not fall off if the boiler
should tip over. Open the lid by pressing the switch located at the top of the handle.
Always remember to press the lid firmly into place after filling.
WARNING! If the
water boiler is overloaded (i.e. the water exceeds the MAX indication), boiling
water may burst out.
The water boiler consists of two parts: The water boiler itself, and a separate live
base. The boiler can be placed on the base from all angles. The boiler must
only be
used the enclosed base. Adjust cord length and store surplus cord under the base.
Always make sure that the cord is as short as possible. Apply the plug to a power
socket and place the filled water boiler on the base. Switch on the boiler by flicking
the switch under the handle, and the pilot light on the side of the boiler will switch
on. When the water boils, the water boiler will automatically switch off after a few
seconds; the switch will flick back with a click sound, and the pilot light will switch off.
Every time the boiler is removed from the base, the switch will flick off automatically,
and the pilot light will switch off. This mechanism prevents unintended heating when
the water boiler is put back into place again. If the boiler has been removed from the
base briefly – e.g. to fill extra water –
remember to switch on the unit again. Always
remove the plug from the power socket when the boiler is not in use.
IMPORTANT: The lid must always be closed when the water boiler is in use. Other-
wise, the automatic steam switch does not work, and there is a risk that boiling
water may burst out. The water boiler’s automatic steam switch is very sensitive in
order to be capable of flicking off at exactly the right time.
If irregularities arise with the automatic steam switch (the water boiler switches off
too early or too late), the water boiler must be descaled. Scale build-up is frequently
the cause of mechanism defects (see section on descaling).
