OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
A. PRE-USE CHECK:
1.
Visually inspect the fl ow controller for any signs of grease or oil. Do not use the device if grease
or oil is suspected or found.
2.
Visually inspect the intended gas symbol which is marked on the fl ow controller label. It shall
match the contents of the pressure source to be used.
3.
Visually inspect the inlet and outlet connectors of the fl ow controller for damage and to ensure
compatibility with the pressure source.
4.
Connect the fl ow controller to a pressure source and turn the fl ow knob to “OFF” position.
5.
If required, slowly and gradually turn on the pressure source.
6.
Confi rm that the contents of the pressure source are suffi cient for the intended use.
7.
Apply a compatible leak test solution to fi ttings and threads of the inlet and outlet of the fl ow
controller to check for leakage.
8.
If leakage occurs between the fl ow controller and the pressure source, close the pressure source
and tighten fi ttings as required to eliminate all external leaks. DO NOT over tighten threaded
connections. Never tighten fi ttings when under pressure.
B. OPERATION:
1.
Ensure that the Flow Controller knob is in the “OFF” position.
2.
Connect the fl ow controller to a pressure source and tighten the connection if applicable.
3.
Connect the fl ow controller to a patient through therapy tubing and mask.
4.
If required, gradually open the pressure source.
5.
Rotate the fl ow-selecting knob anti-clockwise to the required fl ow setting.
C. PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE:
The fl ow controller can be cleaned with a clean, soft and damp cloth after each use.
The user shall also test the fl ow controller (therapy fl ow and leak) periodically to ensure proper
performance and safety. The frequency of such testing should be established according to usage, but
it is recommended that it be performed at least every 6 months.
O-Two Medical recommends that the fl ow controller be returned to the manufacturer or its authorized
agents for evaluation for damage, contamination, wear and function every 5 years. The maximum
service life for the fl ow controller is 15 years providing the above maintenance recommendations are
followed.
