Cleaning the v-groove & fixed clamp block
In the event of a fiber breaking in the clamping device, do not continue to use the cleaver without first
cleaning the clamping device carefully.
The v-groove and fixed clamp block should be inspected daily for debris and/or damage which may prevent the clamp
from closing properly and the fiber from being clamped fully. It is particularly important to make sure that clamping
surfaces (the surfaces of the v-groove and fixed clamp block) are free of debris and oils. This will prevent fiber breakage
or slipping during tension. Cleaning the surfaces is best accomplished using a cotton-tipped applicator wetted with IPA.
For embedded debris, follow steps below:
1.
Remove the v-groove clamp block from the AUTOCLEAVER
TM
.
2.
Clean the fixed clamp block carefully with a cotton-tip wetted with IPA. If necessary, use a plastic stick to scrape
off any glass particles that stick strongly to the surface and then clean with a cotton-tip wetted with IPA once
again.
3.
Clean the v-groove first with a sharp plastic stick to scrape out any glass particles that could stick strongly to the
surface of the v-groove. After this is done, clean the v-groove with a cotton-top wetted with IPA.
4.
Mount the v-grove and cover back on the AUTOCLEAVER
TM
.
Cleaning the v-groove and height adjuster ramp
The sliding ramps for the v-groove and height adjuster should be inspected monthly and as needed for debris which may
prevent the v-groove clamp block and height adjuster from operating properly and the fiber from being clamped
correctly. Cleaning the surfaces is best accomplished using a cotton-tip wetted with IPA.
Emptying the fiber waste collector
Depending on the fiber diameter being cleaved, the fiber waste collector needs to be emptied/replaced with different
intervals. Please check regularly that the container is not full and that the waste removal system is working properly. A
full fiber waste container can render the waste removal function inoperative.
1.
Remove the waste collector bin (held in place by magnets or screwed) by sliding it out to the right until the inlet
tube has cleared the rear cover.
2.
Replace the waste bin with a new replacement unit or empty the container by opening it up (requires a Philips
screwdriver). Be very careful of the sharp waste fiber parts. Dispose fiber scraps in a suitable way.
3.
Mount the empty waste bin back onto the AUTOCLEAVER
TM
by sliding it to the left, making sure that the inlet
tube enters the fully into the rear cover. The magnets should now hold it in place.
4.
Reset the waste collector bin counter under the Service menu
Do not operate the AUTOCLEAVER
TM
without the fiber waste collector! High risk of injury to the operator,
the fiber waste parts can be ejected at high speed from the tube.
