Definitions
Cleave length
The length from the fiber holder to the cleaved end of the fiber.
Bare fiber length
The length of stripped fiber after cleaving.
Waste fiber
The stripped fiber part that is needed for the clamping and is cut away and collected by the automatic fiber waste collector.
Strip length
The bare fiber waste fiber length.
Required fiber length for cleaving
The cleave waste fiber length. A wrong length will cause incorrect cleaving and can cause damage to the clamping device.
Adaptor plate
The guiding and holding plate for fiber holders. Different versions are available to accommodate the most common fiber holder on the
market.
Diamond cleaver blade
Used to create a small scratch (fracture) in the surface of the fiber which subsequently propagates through the fiber cross-section until
it parts.
