A defective JUPITER magnetic compass cannot be serviced in the field
and defective units must be returned to Sperry Marine.
The exchange of the installed JUPITER magnetic compass against an
existing spare compass on board may be performed by service
personnel in the field, see “Exchange of Compass” on page 2-1 for
details.

In case of one or more indications for defect found on an installed
JUPITER magnetic compass, the unit must be exchanged.

Risk of damage by undertaking non field-serviceable procedures in the
field
The JUPITER magnetic compass is not serviceable in the field. Service
personnel in the field is not allowed to undertake drain-off and refill pro-
cedures of the compass liquid.
Defective units must be returned to Sperry Marine for exchange.

Risk of harming classification requirements
The JUPITER magnetic compass is completely equipped with its belong-
ing gimbal ring.
Following classification requirements, compass, gimbal ring and com-
pass card show the same serial no. and must only be operated as an
entity. It is not allowed to operate equipment with different serial no.
