C. Removing the MSC
This procedure describes how to safely remove the existing MSC from the base function tray.

Remove the two chassis mounting screws that secure the MSC to the chassis extension of the base function
tray at the rear of the MSC (

Place the screws in a safe location.

Hold the card along the side edges.

Push the card away from the PCI riser card connector to disconnect the MSC.

Remove the MSC from the base function tray.

Place the MSC on a flat, clean, and static-free surface.

Remove all PECs from the MSC, and place them in static-safe containers.

Place the MSC in a static-safe container so you can return it to service center.

Always wear a grounded wrist strap while you handle components.
Always place the components in static-free containers.
Note:
If you replace a BCM400 with fewer than four PECs, note from
which slots you removed the cards, and ensure that you replace them into
the corresponding slots on the new boards.
