Line cards

Description

Set Time

Before you begin to configure your MMI, login to the system and verify the 
current time. Do this by entering the

 Set Time (S T) 

command. The 

MMI then displays the time it has registered. Enter a new time or hit

 Enter

 

to leave it unchanged. The time is entered in the “hh:mm:ss,” 24-hour, or 
military, format.

Set Date

Also, verify the current date. Do this by entering the

 Set Date (S D) 

command. The MMI then displays the date it has registered. Enter a new date 
or hit

 Enter 

to leave it unchanged. The date is entered in the “mm/dd/yy” 

format.

Set Alarm

The

 Set Alarm (S A) 

command establishes the parameters by which 

an alarm is activated and the duration of the alarm after it is activated. There 
are three alarm levels as described below: 

—

Alarm Level 0 (AL0)

 consists of activity with an error threshold below 

the AL1 setting, which is deemed to be a satisfactory condition and 
therefore no alarm will be activated.

—

Alarm Level 1 (AL1)

 consists of activity with an error threshold above 

the AL1 setting but below the AL2 setting that is deemed to be of minor 
importance. In this situation, the external alarm hardware will be 
activated by closing the normally open contact, the RED ALARM LED 
on the faceplate will light, and an alarm message will be created in the 
alarm log and the MMI terminal.

Alarm Level 2 (AL2)

 consists of activity with an error threshold above 

the AL2 setting which is deemed to be of major importance. In this 
situation, the external alarm hardware will be activated by closing the 
normally open contact, the RED ALARM LED on the faceplate will 
light, an alarm message will be created in the alarm log and the MMI 
terminal, the Line-side E1 card will enter line-conditioning mode, and a 
yellow alarm message will be sent to the CPE/LTU. Line processing will 
send the Meridian 1 either all “on-hook” or all “off-hook” signals, 
depending on the dip switch setting of the card. See Table 38, “Line-side 
E1 card—E1 Switch 2 (S2) dip switch settings,” on page 150.
