Audio or Vibration Alert
The device operates on the principle of motion. The device will not produce a
signal when held still over a metal. You must move the device over the metal in
order for the device to detect it. When the device detects metal, it will produce
an audio or vibration alert according to your mode selection. The rate of the
pulsing audio or vibrations will increase as the device gets closer to the metallic
object and it will decrease as the device is moved away. When the device is in
audio mode the red LEDs will also illuminate according to the signal strength
providing visual warning as well.
Sensitivity and Signal Level Indicator
The red LEDs indicate the device's sensitivity level (except for the Basic model) as
well as the signal level when metal is detected in audio mode. You can adjust the
sensitivity based on surrounding conditions and your preference using the up
and down arrow keys. At maximum sensitivity, all red LEDs will light up and at
minimum only a single LED will illuminate.
As mentioned above, when metal is detected in audio mode the red LEDs will
provide visual warning by lighting up according to the strength of the signal
received from the metal.
Interference Elimination Button
(Ths feature s not present n the Basc model)
The device is set for maximum sensitivity for the smallest objects. This may cause
the device to produce signals when held close to a floor with metal construction.
You may enable the device not to respond to metals under the floor by pressing
and holding this button. When released, the device will go back to its previous
sensitivity level.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Internal Sensitivity Setting
Some applications may require different sensitivity setting from the factory
setting. An internal sensitivity setting has been placed under the rubber handle
cover. You can access this setting by pulling back the rubber and adjust the
sensitivity by a screwdriver using a test object of your choice. The sensitivity will
increase as you turn the setting clockwise and it will decrease when turned
counterclockwise.
