5.3 LUBRICATION
Lubricate the loader after every 16 hours of operation. Apply lubricant until it slightly runs over
from the part being applied. Give two applications of lubricant to the lubricant nipple of the
gear rack slide pad.
To make lubrication of the vertical boom’s top head easier, the turning cylinders and support
legs have been scored. Before climbing atop the turning cylinder, extend the boom directly
backwards and attach it to the frame of the forestry trailer or lay it on the ground. Lift the
support legs into a horizontal position. The sliding boom is lubricated by spreading vaseline on
the boom’s sliding surfaces when they are fully exposed. Use only high quality vaseline,
example NESTE OH GREASE.
5.4 ADJUSTING THE SUPPORT BEARING OF THE GEAR RACK
Checking the tightness of the support bearings of the gear rack and the vertical boom's tooth
rim is essential to prevent breaking of the teeth. Check the adjustment after first 10 hours of
operation and after it at intervals of about 100 hours. The recommended clearance is 0.05 - 0.1
mm, which corresponds to a 10° - 20° turn of the tightening screw. First loosen the lock nut and
then tighten the tightening screw (torque 10 kPm). After this open the screw about 10° - 20°.
Finally screw the lock nut back and tighten it. It is useful to check at times that the nut and
screw have not turned loose by themselves. If the loader is equipped with two gear racks,
there are support bearings on both sides of the slewing device.
