Figure 80 Digital Ambient Light Sensor location
Hall sensor
The hall sensor system is comprised of a hall sensor in the lower part of the phone and a magnet in the upper
sliding/pivoting part of the phone.
When the sensor detects a magnet, the output is triggered and the phone changes mode from open to closed
accordingly.
Magnetometer
Magnetometer is used in Maps to identify the users orientation or to auto-orient the map if desired.
Magnetometer requires calibration by rotating the phone in circular 360 degree movements for a few times,
like drawing the number 8 in the air by moving the wrist while holding the phone in the hand.
When calibrated, the compass arrow becomes green. It is red when calibration is needed, and yellow when
inaccurate and calibration is advised.
Note:
Magnetizeable metals and magnetic items should be kept more than 20 cm away from the
phone, and the phone should be kept stable during testing. Otherwise the selftest and/or
functionality will be affected.
ASICs
RAPIDOYAWE
RAPIDOYAWE ASIC (D2800) is a die-stacked Processor (RAPIDO) with 3G HDSPA logic (YAWE). RAM memory is
integrated into RAPIDO.
