5. Writing text
You can enter text (for example, in
phone book or in calendar) by using the
Navi Roller
or by using the traditional
text input. The traditional text input is
indicated by
. Note that the Navi
Roller in-put is also available; when the
traditional text input is in use.
When using the
Navi Roller
, you write
text by selecting characters from the
character bar displayed in the far right
of the display. In the traditional text
input, you enter text by pressing a
number key (from
to
)
repeatedly until the desired character
appears on the display.
For writing text messages you can also
use the predictive text input. In the
predictive text input you only press a
number key once for one letter. The
predictive text input is indicated by
. Note that this input method
may not be available for all languages.
You can use Chinese input when you
have selected Chinese as the display
text language within menu 4-3-1. For
using Chinese input, see page 41.
Writing text by using Navi Roller
1.
Roll with
Navi
Roller
to the
desired
character or
number. The
character bar is displayed in the far
right of the display.
2.
Press
Navi Roller
to insert the
highlighted character or number.
• If you make a mistake, you can
remove characters to the left by
pressing
Clear
as many times as
needed. Pressing and holding
Clear
clears the display.
• To move the cursor, roll through the
character bar to one of the arrow
symbols and press
Navi Roller
to
move the cursor in the direction of
the highlighted arrow symbol
You can also move the cursor by
first pressing
Options
, then pressing
Navi Roller
at
Move
cursor
. Roll
with
Navi Roller
to the desired
location and press
Done
to move the
cursor.
