3.4 Coolant
Recommended coolants
The following two coolants can be used:
·
Preferred: Perkins Extended Life Coolant (ELC)
·
Acceptable: a commercial heavy-duty coolant that
meets “ASTM D4985” specifications.
Attention!
Always switch the engine off before
topping-up with coolant.
Attention!
Never remove the cover when the motor
is hot as hot water can escape and
cause serious burns. Wait for at least
ten minutes after the motor has been
switched off and then remove the cooler
cover.
Checking the coolant level
1. The coolant tank is located on the front of the engine
body, behind the radiator screen. (Picture 1)
2. Check that the level of the coolant is in the middle of the
tank (cold vehicle). (Picture 2)
3. To adjust the level, turn the vehicle towards the left,
open the radiator screen, unscrew the cap and fill up the
coolant tank.
Purging the cooling system
1. Turn the vehicle towards the left, stop the vehicle then
open the radiator screen. (Picture 1)
2. Half fill the coolant tank. (Picture 2)
