RECOMMENDED AMPLIFIER POWER
We recommend an amplifier with a power rating as listed in the specifications
page of this manual for optimum performance. Outdoor speakers typically require
more power than indoor speakers. The outdoor environment is usually noisier
and has less reflective surfaces to make the system sound louder. Therefore, the
use of a higher power amplifier is recommended.
Ironically, most speakers are not damaged by large amplifiers but by small
amplifiers. When playing the loudspeaker at higher volumes, a small amplifier
will run out of power very quickly. When an amplifier runs out of power it creates
damaging “clipping” distortion. A large amplifier will play at the same volume
without causing this distortion.
