RECORD AND GRAB
You will often want to capture video clips from external sources, as
well as to record your own outgoing live production.
Similarly, it can be quite useful to be able to grab stills from
Program Out, for use in the current production. This chapter will
provide everything you need to know about this topic.
TriCaster offers the ability to capture the a/v stream from
Program Output
to hard disk. This can
be useful as a method of archiving a live production for later use, or as a way to capture video
clips for playback from the
DDR
during
a live production.
Relevant settings and controls are grouped in the
Record Configuration
panel. To open this
panel, click the
Configure
button (gear) next to
Record
beneath the
Program Output
monitor.
Hint: Record and Grab functions capture imagery from Program Output after the video signal has
been processed by both Main and Input Proc Amps.
11.1.1
RECORD
Recording program output provides a way to capture an entire live production on the system, or
to capture media files for use in the
DDR
or SpeedEDIT (
SpeedEDIT
provides its own
supplemental capture capability for pre and post production applications).
Figure 127
Clicking the
Record
button activates recording (Figure 127), illuminating the button. The
timecode display resets to zero when recording begins. Recording uses the current settings from
the
Record Configuration
panel, discussed next.
