V.g SWITCHING ON THE AQUARIUM
WARNING: connect the electrical appliances to the power supply only after setting up the aquarium as required and filling it
with water.
1. Always keep the water level from a minimum of 3cm to a maximum of 5cm from the upper rim (Fig. 25). This will allow the
filter to work correctly, conveying the filtered water through the filtering materials.
2. Insert the filter cartridge/s into the filtering compartment supplied.
3. Connect the LED power supply unit with its own power supply via the connector.
4. Insert the plugs into the power sockets, carefully following the safety instructions given in Chapter I. From this point onwards,
the power supply cables should not be disconnected unless regular cleaning or maintenance operations are to be carried out.
5. Check that the various appliances are operating (in the event of a fault, see Chapter VIII):
• Water should come out of the pump outlet;
• The heater indicator light should switch on when the water temperature is lower than the set temperature;
• When the LED lights buttons are pressed, they should switch on.
6. Wait for the water temperature to reach the value set in the heater.
7. Proceed with adding any fish according to your own experience and complying with the “good practice” regulations for
aquariums.
V.h OPTIONAL TANK LID
For each version of aquarium, a lid is available, which is sold separately (see codes on page 6).
Installation: position the support legs in the free corners of the tank and place the shaped lid on it.
VI. OPERATING AND CLEANING
EVERY WEEK:
a. When in use, the synthetic wool that covers the filter cartridge gradually becomes clogged. To maintain effective mechanical-
chemical filtering, it is advisable to rinse the Mechanichem More filter cartridge every week.
b. Clean the inside of the aquarium glass panels with a magnetic brush (not included) to remove the patina of algae (Fig. 26).
c. Clean the transparent resin protecting the LED lighting bar with a sponge or a wet cloth (Fig. 27).
d. Check the water level. If it is too low, top it up to the required level (not more than 3cm from the rim of the tank) with water
at about the same temperature as the water in the aquarium.
e. Check the water temperature using the immersion thermometer provided.
EVERY MONTH:
a. Replace the Mechanichem I or II filter cartridge with a new one depending on the type of aquarium (see Chapter VII,
paragraph b).
EVERY 3 MONTHS:
a. Rinse the Biofoam filter cartridge with water taken from the aquarium in order to preserve the bacterial colonies.
b. Clean the bottom of the aquarium by gently sucking up any deposited sediment. It is advisable to use the NEWA Pgr gravel
cleaning set. This operation should be done with great care in order not to uproot any plants or leave any roots uncovered.
c. Remove any deposits from the rotor and the pump impeller (see Chapter VII, paragraph a)
VII. MAINTENANCE
Regular maintenance should be carried out in order to guarantee the normal operation of the accessories and the correct
biochemical balance of the water. In the NEWA More aquarium, these operations are extremely easy and can be carried out
without soiling or wetting any furniture or furnishings. All you need is a container in which to put the material extracted from
the aquarium and a paper/fabric towel.
VII.a CLEANING THE ROTOR
To clean the rotor and the pump impeller, follow the instructions given below:
1.
WARNING
: disconnect the power supply from all electrical appliances operating in the aquarium. If installed, leave the heater
to cool for at least 15 minutes before proceeding with the next steps.
