5.
Set the electrical weld parameters on the ALPHA 850. The parameter guidelines
can be found in the table in Chapter 7.2.
6.
Position the gun on the weld point. As soon as the stud contacts the workpiece
surface, the “Contact” LED goes on.
Warning:
•
During the welding process, touchable parts of the welding gun, such
as studs, stud holder and all electrically connected parts carry current.
These components must not be touched during the welding process!
7.
Press the gun with both hands as vertically as possible (90° angle) to the
workpiece.
8.
Hold the gun still and press the start button. The “Start weld cycle” LED is on as
long as the start button is pressed.
9.
For welding with shielding gas, the shielding gas feed is activated for the duration
of the pre-set pre-flow time.
10.
After the shielding gas pre-flow time is over, a pilot current flows through the
external welding circuit “Welding cable - Stud - Workpiece - Earth cable”.
11.
The gun coil activates and lifts the stud from the workpiece surface. The “Contact”
LED goes out.
12.
When the pre-flow time is over, the main welding current is shut off.
When the weld time ends, the solenoid actuator is depowered.
13.
The stud dips into the melt bath, the arc goes out, and the weld current is switched
off.
14.
For shielding gas welding, a fixed activated post-flow time is activated.
15.
Pull the welding gun as straight as possible off the stud.
16.
Before the welding system is used for series production, the quality of the weld joint
must be checked (see Chapter 7.5).
17.
To make sure the weld parameters are correct, always do some test welds before
starting work.
18.
If the weld results are poor, optimize the weld parameters.
The test welds must be repeated until the optimal weld quality can be achieved.
