SCC-SG Series Strain-Gauge Modules User Guide

ni.com
The names given to the strain-gauge types in this section directly
correspond to bridge selections in MAX and the LabVIEW Convert Strain
Gauge Reading VI.
If you have not configured the SCC-SG0
X
or SCC-SG24 as an accessory
for the DAQ device, as described in the
section,
or if you are using the Mac OS, you must divide voltage measurements by
100 before converting them to units of strain. This calculation accounts for
the gain of 100 applied by each SCC-SG0
X
or SCC-SG24 channel.
If you have not configured the SCC-SG0
X
or SCC-SG24, or you are using
the Mac OS, you
cannot
use virtual channels within the Data Neighborhood
of MAX to convert voltage measurements into units of strain. To convert
properly scaled voltage measurements to units of strain, complete the
following steps:
1.
Read the bridge configuration channel on the DAQ device
V
ESERIES
[ACH(
X
)].
2.
Calculate the voltage by using the following formula:
where
V
SG
is the bridge configuration voltage.
V
ESERIES
is the DAQ device voltage.
This calculation provides proper scaling for the amplifier in the
SCC-SG0
X
and SCC-SG24.
Note
The SCC-SG0
X
built-in excitation voltage is +2.5 VDC. The SCC-SG24 excitation
voltage is +10 VDC.
Strain Equations
This section provides the equations used to convert voltage readings to
units of strain and simulate the effect of a shunt resistor.
Note
If you are not using NI software, or you are using the Mac OS, you can use these
equations in your software application to properly scale your measurements.
