NI PCIe-8244

Quad Port USB 3.0 Interface Device

The NI PCIe-8244 (NI 8244) is a quad port PCI Express (PCIe) USB 3.0 interface device. This 
document describes how to install and configure the necessary hardware and software 
components to begin using the NI 8244.

What You Need to Get Started

NI 8244 USB 3.0 interface device.

USB3 Vision camera.

USB 3.0 cable. Use only USB 3.0 cables that are SuperSpeed-certified or supplied by NI. 

Caution

To ensure the specified EMC performance, the length of connected USB 

cables must not exceed 3 m (10 ft).

Computer running Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit versions)/Vista (32-bit or 64-bit 
versions)/XP (32-bit or 64-bit versions)/ Server 2008 R2 with at least one available x4 or 
larger PCIe slot.

NI-IMAQdx 4.1 or later driver software, shipped with the device and included with NI 
Vision Acquisition Software February 2013 or later.

Renesas

PD720202 driver software, included on the separate driver DVD shipped with 

the device.

Software for developing machine vision applications:

NI Vision Builder for Automated Inspection

NI Vision Development Module, which requires one of the following application 
development environments:

LabVIEW

LabWindows

/CVI

Microsoft Visual Studio
