The specification permits vendors to develop s
u
b-b
u
ses that coexist with
the basic PCI interface on the b
u
s. Compatible operation is not g
u
aranteed
between devices with different s
u
b-b
u
ses nor between devices with
s
u
b-b
u
ses and PXI. The standard implementation for CompactPCI does not
incl
u
de these s
u
b-b
u
ses. The PXI TIO Series device works in any
CompactPCI chassis adhering to the
PICMG 2.0 R3.0
core specification.
PXI-specific feat
u
res are implemented on the J2 connector of the b
u
s. The
PXI device is compatible with any chassis with a s
u
b-b
u
s that does not
drive the lines
u
sed by that device. Even if the s
u
b-b
u
s is capable of driving
these lines, the PXI device is still compatible as long as those pins on the
s
u
b-b
u
s are disabled by defa
u
lt and never enabled.
Caution
Damage can res
u
lt if these lines are driven by the s
u
b-b
u
s. NI is
not
liable for any
damage res
u
lting from improper signal connections.
