Internal Real-Time Clock (RTC)
The system clock of the NI sbRIO-96xx gets the date and time from the internal RTC at
startup. This synchronization provides timestamp data to the device.
Real-Time Clock (RTC) Battery
The sbRIO-96xx contains an RTC battery, which is a lithium cell battery that stores the system
clock information when the sbRIO-96xx is powered off. Only a slight drain on the RTC
battery occurs when power is applied to the sbRIO-96xx power connector. The rate at which
the RTC battery drains when power is disconnected depends on the ambient storage
temperature. For longer battery life, store the sbRIO-96xx at a cooler temperature and apply
power to the power connector. Refer to the device specifications on
expected battery lifetime.
The battery is user-replaceable. The sbRIO-96xx ships with an industrial-rated BR1632 battery
from RAYOVAC.
