If you did not make any changes to the configuration settings or only
renamed devices, you do not have to restart the system. However, if you
made any changes to the configuration settings, restart the system to run on
the new kernel by entering the following commands:
cd /
reboot
System Configuration Information
At system startup, when the NI-488M driver is loaded, the I/O address
range, interrupt vector, and DMA level is displayed for device "
gpib
".
This information corresponds to the AT-GPIB board installed as
gpib0
in
the system.
Notice that the interrupt vector number is displayed in octal . So, if you
selected interrupt vector 10, it is displayed as 12 in octal. A message is also
printed along with the configuration information about whether the
NI -488M driver was successful in finding the board and installing the
driver. If a board is not found at the base I/O address printed, make sure
that the base I/O address hardware setting matches the base I/O address
selected in
ibconf
.
Note:
If you would like to see this startup information after the system
has booted, simply enter the following command:
/etc/hwconfig
Step 5. Verify the Installation
There are two software installation tests:
ibtsta
and
ibtstb
.
•
ibtsta
checks for a correct node
/dev/gpib0
and correct access to
the device driver.
•
ibtstb
checks for correct DMA and interrupt operation.
ibtstb
requires a GPIB analyzer and can be omitted if an analyzer is not
available.
