The wedge should be placed between the child’s legs.

Adjustable head pads -
↔ and ↕
To adjust the head pads, draw aside the seat upholstery on the front and
back of the seat. Next, take off the head support knobs, which are situated
on the back of the seat and adjust the head pads at the front of the seat.
That accomplished, screw the knobs back in the appropriate place at the
back of the seat. Finally, draw the upholstery at front and back of the seat.
