MAINTENANCE
When performing any maintenance on the power buggy
or engine, follow all safety messages and rules for safe
operation stated at the beginning of this manual.
WARNING
Accidental starts can cause severe injury or
death.
ALWAYS
place the ON/OFF switch in the
OFF position.
Disconnect and ground spark plug leads
and disconnect negative battery cable
from battery before servicing.
WARNING
Some maintenance operations may
require the engine to be run. Ensure
that the maintenance area is well
ventilated. Exhaust contains poisonous
carbon monoxide gas that can cause
unconsciousness and may result in
DEATH
CAUTION
ALWAYS
allow the engine to cool
before servicing.
NEVER
attempt any
maintenance work on a hot engine.
CAUTION
Operating the engine with a blocked grass screen, dirty or
plugged cooling fins, and/or cooling shrouds removed will
cause engine damage due to overheating.
DANGER
DO NOT
use gasoline as a cleaning solvent to avoid
creating the risk of fire or an explosion.
ENGINE AIR CLEANER
1. Remove wing nut that secures the air cleaner cover
to the air cleaner body. Remove cover and set aside.
2. Next, remove the foam and paper filter elements as
3. Tap the paper filter element (Figure 29) several times
on a hard surface to remove dirt, or blow compressed
air [not exceeding 30 psi (207 kPa, 2.1 kgf/cm2)]
through the filter element from the air cleaner case
side.
NEVER
brush off dirt. Brushing will force dirt
into the fibers. Replace the paper filter element if it is
excessively dirty.
