Power Management Features
ACPI Standby State
This item specifies the power saving modes for ACPI function. If your operating system
supports ACPI, such as Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows
XP, you can choose to enter the Standby mode in S1(POS) or S3(STR) fashion through
the setting of this field. Options are:
[S1/POS]
The S1 sleep mode is a low power state. In this state, no system
context is lost (CPU or chipset) and hardware maintains all system
context.
[S3/STR]
The S3 sleep mode is a lower power state where the information of
system configuration and open applications/files is saved to main
memory that remains powered while most other hardware compo-
nents turn off to save energy. The information stored in memory will be
used to restore the system when a “wake up” event occurs.
[Auto]
BIOS determines the best automatically.
Re-Call VGA BIOS at S3 Resuming
Selecting Enabled allows BIOS to call VGA BIOS to initialize the VGA card when
system wakes up (resumes) from S3 sleep state. The system resume time is short-
ened when you disable the function, but system will need an AGP driver to initialize
the VGA card. Therefore, if the AGP driver of the card does not support the initializa-
tion feature, the display may work abnormally or not function after resuming from S3.
Power Management/APM
Setting to [Enabled] will activate an Advanced Power Management (APM) device to
enhance Max Saving mode and stop CPU internal clock. Settings: [Disabled], [Enabled].
