1. Change the hydraulic oil at least once every three years. To change the hydraulic oil:
a. With the jack completely compressed, remove the oil filler plug.
b. Tip the jack to allow the hydraulic oil to drain out of the housing completely. Dispose of old
hydraulic oil in accordance with local regulations.
c. Completely fill the housing with a high quality hydraulic jack oil (not included) until the oil just
begins to run out of the oil filler hole.
d. Reinstall the oil filler plug.
e. Clean with a clean cloth using a detergent or mild solvent and wipe dry.
2. Check for damaged parts. Before using any tool, any part that appears to be damaged should
be carefully checked to determine that it would operate properly and perform its intended
functions. Check for alignment and binding of moving parts, for broken parts or mounting
fixtures, or for any other condition that may affect proper operation.
3. Use only identical replacement parts or accessories intended for use with the shop press
when servicing. Replace damaged parts immediately.
4. Keep the tool clean. Wipe the tool with a clean cloth and periodically blow out all areas with
compressed air. If compressed air is not available, use a brush to remove dust from areas. Do
not use harsh chemicals or solvents to clean the tool.
5. Regularly inspect all mountings and nuts and bolts to ensure tightness. Should any nuts and
bolts become loose, tighten immediately.
BLEEDING THE HYDRAULIC JACK
Before the first use, check for proper hydraulic oil level in the jack. Then thoroughly test the jack
for proper operation prior to its actual use. If the jack does not work properly, bleed excess air
from its hydraulic system as follows:
1. Open the release valve.
2. Remove the oil filler plug and fill the jack with hydraulic fluid to full level.
3. Apply pressure to the saddle, and pump the jack handle quickly several times.
4. Check the oil filler hole and, if necessary, top off the oil filler hole with hydraulic oil.
5. Replace the oil filler plug and close the release valve.
6. Test the jack several times for proper operation before putting it into use. If, after bleeding,
the jack still does not appear to be working properly, do not use the jack until a qualified service
technician has repaired it.
LUBRICATION
1. It is important that the tool be properly lubricated. Without proper lubrication the tool will not
work properly and parts will wear prematurely. Avoid over-lubricating the tool.
2. Use the proper lubricant and fill or lubricate parts only as necessary. Use only recommended
lubricants.
Substitutes may harm the rubber compounds in the tool’s O
-rings and other rubber
parts.
3. Lubricate before storing. In the event that it becomes necessary to store the tool for an
extended period of time (overnight, weekend, etc.,) it should receive a generous amount of
lubrication at that time.
