Brakes
Pull each brake lever. It should swing smoothly and there should be a distinct ‘bite point’ at which
the pads contact the disc. If the brake lever is rough, the bite point feels spongy or there is a
reduction is braking power, seek the advice of your Mountain Trike dealer as the brakes require
specialist knowledge and tools to service.
The Combined Braking system due to its nature can require additional maintenance/care
compared to the Independent system. Over time we have identified some hint sand tips which
can help give good feel to the brakes. At times after prolonged periods of the Trike not being
ridden, the brake bite point can feel poor. Simply pump the brake ever several times and the bite
point should return to normal as the system pressurises.
Warning -
Hydraulic brakes contain fluid which is hazardous to health if ingested and
irritates skin on contact. The Mountain Trike company recommend any maintenance or
service to the brakes themselves is carried out by your Mountain Trike dealer. If a brake
fluid leak is suspected, seek the advice of your Mountain Trike dealer
Warning -
Hydraulic disc brake systems are sensitive to temperature. If the brake systems
experience prolonged exposure to intense, direct sunlight, the fluid can expand, locking
the brakes and potentially damaging the internal seals. If high surface temperature
exposure is suspected, contact your Mountain Trike dealer.
