Notes:

To listen to all activity on a current channel, short
press the SB1 to set the CTCSS/DPL code to 0.
This feature is called ‘CTCSS/DPL Defeat’.

RECEIVING A CALL
1.
Select a channel by rotating the Channel
Selector Knob until you reach the desired
channel.
2.
Make sure the PTT button is released and listen
for voice activity.
3.
The LED Indicator stays solid red when the
radio is receiving a call.
4.
To respond, hold the radio vertically 1 to 2
inches (2.5 to 5 cm) from mouth. Press the PTT
button to talk; release it to listen.
Note:
The LED stays solid red when the radio is
receiving or transmitting.
TALK RANGE
XT Series radios have been designed to
maximize performance and improve
transmission range in the field. It is
recommended that you do no use the radios
closer than 1.5 meters apart, to avoid
interference.
Talk range depends on the terrain. It will be
affected by concrete structures, heavy foliage
and by operating radios indoors or in vehicles.
Coverage of 16,250 m
2
and 13 floors are
expected.
Optimal range occurs in flat, open areas with
up to 9 kilometers of coverage. Medium range
occurs when buildings and trees are in the way.
Minimal range occurs when dense foliage and
mountains obstruct the communication path. To
establish a proper two-way communication, the
Channel, Frequency and Interference
Eliminator Codes must be the same on both
radios. This depends on the stored profile that
has been pre-programmed on the radio:
