Direct Talk

SM

If you are out of network coverage, your phone will 
not be able to make an emergency 911 cellular call 
until you go back into the network coverage area. 

You must wait until the phone reconnects to the 
network before attempting to make an emergency 
911 cellular call.

Setup Options

Direct Talk setup options are available in the DT 
Options screen in both network and Direct Talk 
modes.

To access Setup Options in network:

From the main menu, select DirecTalk.
Select Setup.

To access Setup Options in Direct Talk:

From the main menu, select DT Options.
Select Setup.

You can set your phone to: 

• Launch directly into Direct Talk when you select 

DirecTalk from the main menu.  

• Notify you periodically with a tone that you are in 

Direct Talk.

Using Direct Launch

To set your phone to launch into Direct Talk when 
you select DirecTalk from the main menu:

From the setup screen, select Direct Launch.
Select On.

Note: If Direct Launch is set to On, you will not 

see DT Options when you select 
DirecTalk from the main menu. In order to 
have access to your setup options, Direct 
Launch
 must be set to Off. Or you can 
access setup options while in Direct Talk 
mode by pressing 

m

 and selecting DT 

Options.

To turn off Direct Launch:

From the setup screen, select Direct Launch.
Select Off.

Your phone now displays DT Options when you 
select DirecTalk from the main menu.

Using State Tone

To set your phone to notify you with a tone that you 
are in Direct Talk:

From the setup screen, select State Tone.
Select the time frame during which you want to 

be notified that you are in Direct Talk.
