1.2.4. Any voltage regulator contains:
- receiving alternator voltage sensing element, (usually volt box on a regulator input);
- comparison element, in which alternator voltage is compared with a reference value;
- changing the current in the in a
drive winding regulating unit, if an alternator voltage is different from a
reference value.
1.2.5. Potential regulator defect may be:
- contact pollution and contamination; weakening of brushes hold-downs; mechanical and thermal components
damage; short circuit; resistors, diodes and semiconductor chip defects.
