Grease Replenishment/Exchange for U-axis Speed
Reducer
Fig. 24 U-axis Speed Reducer
T
Grease Replenishment (Refer to "Fig. 24 U-axis Speed Reducer")
1. Posture the U-arm horizontal to the ground as shown in "Fig. 24 U-axis Speed
2. Remove the hexagon socket head cap screw M6 from the grease exhaust port.
3. Remove the hexagon socket head cap plug PT1/8 from the grease inlet and install the
grease zerk PT1/8. (The grease zerk is delivered with the manipulator.)
4. Inject the grease from the grease inlet using a grease gun.
5. Move the U-axis for a few minutes to discharge the excess grease.
6. Wipe the discharged grease with a cloth and reinstall the screw M6 on the grease
exhaust port. Apply Three Bond 1206C to the thread part of the screw, and tighten the
screw with a tightening torque of 10 N
N
m (1.0 kgf
N
m).
7. Remove the grease zerk from the grease inlet and reinstall the plug PT1/8. Apply
Three Bond 1206C to the thread part of the plug, and tighten the plug with a tightening
torque of 4.9 N
N
m (0.5 kgf
N
m).
T
Grease Exchange (Refer to "Fig. 24 U-axis Speed Reducer")
1. Posture the U-arm horizontal to the ground as shown in "Fig. 24 U-axis Speed
• If grease is injected with the screw on, the grease will go inside the motor and may cause
a damage. Make sure to remove the screw before the grease injection.
• Do not install a joint, a hose, etc. to the grease exhaust port. Failure to observe this
instruction may result in damage to the motor due to coming off of an oil seal.
