STEP 1: DRYING YOUR HAIR
After you have shampooed and conditioned your hair,
comb through gently using a wide-tooth comb.
When wet, hair can stretch by up to
1
/
3
of its length.
Treat it gently at this stage, to avoid damaging your hair.
Before you apply a heat protection spray, use your
hairdryer to ‘waft’ the excess moisture from your hair.
If you apply a styling product on very wet hair, you
might dilute the product, making it less effective.
Apply the heat protection spray evenly from the
roots of your hair to the ends.
Using sectioning clips take a small section of hair from
the nape of the neck, and secure the rest of your hair
away from it. Using a paddle brush, dry the hair,
pointing the hairdryer down the hair from roots to ends
to help avoid any ‘frizzy’ bits.
Once this section is dry, use the cool button for a
couple of seconds to ‘set’ the hair.
Take the next section of hair, dry and cool. Do this for
the rest of your hair. This may take a little longer than
you are used to at first, but the results you achieve will
be worth it, and your style will last longer.
VARIATIONS ON THE BASIC BLOW DRY
For extra volume
As you dry each section of hair, using a radial brush, dry
the hair in the opposite direction to the way it normally falls.
This will give the maximum volume on the root area.
To shape the hair around the face or fringe area
Put your brush in the section of hair, right up to the
roots, and dry your hair, keeping the brush close to your
face. This will just gently shape the hair to frame the
face beautifully.
To achieve a choppy texture on layered hair
When the hair is dry, rub a very small amount of a shine
gel or serum through your hands, and then through your
hair. Use your Dryer to blast the hair into shape.
STYLING TIP
The Dryer can also be used to revive your style.
Put Velcro rollers in your hair – use them all over,
or just on the crown to add a little more volume to
your hair. Spray the rollers with a little light hairspray,
and then use the Dryer on a medium heat setting
to dry the hairspray, followed by a cool blast to set
the look. Remove the rollers and comb through
using either your fingers, or a wide-tooth comb.
