CANOE CARRIER

NOTE: THIS ACCESSORY CAN ONLY BE INSTALLED ON THE 
FOLLOWING MOPAR UTILITY CROSSBAR KITS: 
CHEROKEE - 82203477; MINIVAN - 82203592; DURANGO - 82203984
THROUGH 1998 GRAND CHEROKEE - 82203708; 
1999 GRAND CHEROKEE - 82204497

FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROPER INSTALLATION AND SAFE OPERATION

STEP 1:

REMOVE ALL END CAPS ON CROSSBAR SET. 
INSTALL HARDWARE AS SHOWN ON ILLUSTRATION VIEW A, 
MAKING SURE THAT ANGLED PORTION BRACKET IS FACING OUTWARD. 
DO NOT TIGHTEN DOWN AT THIS POINT.

STEP 2:

ONCE ALL BRACKETS ARE INSTALLED, PLACE CANOE ON UTILITY
CROSSBARS AND POSITION BRACKETS SO THAT THE GUNWHALES
ARE RESTING ON THE INSIDE CORNERS. SEE ILLUSTRATION VIEW B.

STEP 3:

USING 4MM ALLEN WRENCH, HAND TIGHTEN BRACKETS (25 IN/LB.)
AT ALL FOUR POSITIONS.

STEP 4:

SECURE CANOE BY INSTALLING STRAP ASSMBLIES AS SHOWN ON
ILLUSTRATION “C”. MAKE SURE STRAP ASSEMBLIES ARE TIGHT
BEFORE DRIVING VEHICLE.

STEP 5:

RE-INSTALL END CAPS ON UTILITY CROSSBARS

CAUTION:

CANOES, IN ADDITION TO BEING SECURELY ATTACHED
TO THE CARRIERS, MUST ALSO BE TIED TO THE VEHICULE BOTH FRONT
AND REAR TO PROVIDE SAFE TRANSPORTATION. USE NYLON ROPES OR
STRAPS TIED TO THE CANOE AT THE FRONT AND REAR OF THE VEHICLE. 
TO PREVENT SHIFTING WHICH COULD OCCUR DURING TRANSPORTATION.

INSURE THAT THE STRAPS ARE SERED TO METAL STRUCTURAL
COMPONENTS ON THE VEHICULE. PAD THE ROPES OR STRAPS WHERE
THEY COME INTO CONTACT WITH VEHICULE PAINT TO PREVENT ABRASION.

FAILURE TO TIE THE CANOE SECURELY TO THE VEHICULE COULD
RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT AND SEVERE INJURY.

CAUTION:

MAXIMUM CANOE WEIGHT 100LBS. (45.4 KG.)

CAUTION:

USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN OPENING TAILGATE.
