6.1 Feed Pawl Spring Replacement
The applicator must be removed from the press for this procedure.
1.
For mechanical feed applicators, remove the ram from the applicator.
2.
For air feed applicators, extend the air cylinder.
3.
Back up the feed position by removing the ram from the applicator. For air feed applicators, extend the air cylinder.
4.
On the bottom of the base plate, use a 3mm hex wrench to remove the two M4 track mounting screws. See Figure
6.1.1.
5.
Use a 2mm hex wrench to loosen (do not remove) the M3 button head screw holding the feed pawl spring leg to
the guide block. See Figure 6.1.2.
6.
While holding the feed pawl up, slide the track assembly out of the applicator.
7.
Pull off the feed pawl assembly and feed pawl spring. Discard the used spring.
8.
Install the new spring over the feed pawl shaft, and make sure the leg of the spring is resting on top of the screw.
See Figure 6.1.3.
Note:
Apply a few drops of oil on the shaft before installing.
9.
Install the feed pawl assembly. When approaching the guide block, make sure the leg of the spring goes on the
right side of the M3 button head screw. Tighten the M3 button head screw (do not overtighten) to hold the spring in
place. See Figure 6.1.4.
10.
While holding the feed pawl up, install the track assembly and tighten its two M4 screws.
11.
The track position may require a slight adjustment after installation. See Section 4.7.
