4 Calculation Examples
4.1 Example MultiRow Panorama
In our example a landscape panorama should be photographed with a Canon 10D
SLR camera. The active camera parameters in database on line no. 1, as sensor size
and so on are correctly set. For MultiRow panoramas the dead angle is not taken into
account for calculation – but a valid value should be set in the database.
The focal length used for this example is a 50mm lens. This is the value to type in to
the MultiRow panorama calculators input mask
10
. The panorama should cover a hori-
zontal FoV of 90°
13
and vertical FoV of 55°
15
with a minimum (H/V) overlaps should
be at least 30%
6/8
. The calculation will guarantees a horizontal overlaps of at least
30%
26
and a vertical overlap of exactly 30%
26.
The following parameters should be calculated
26
with the MuliRow panorama calcula-
tor:
- calculated numbers of columns and rows
- calculated horizontal and vertical FoV in [°]
- calculated horizontal and vertical overlap in [%]
- calculated horizontal and vertical step size in [°]
- calculated horizontal and vertical Angle of View for a single image in [°]
- calculated number of horizontal and vertical pixels for the whole panorama
- calculated number of pixels for the whole panorama [MP/GP]
- calculated elevation values (vertical) to adjust the panorama head elevator
To program the PanoMachine the only two parameters
ANGLE (H)
13
and
NPos (H)
17
are needed.
Step by step procedure:
- In the panorama calculator choose the “MultRow Panorama Calculator”.
- Assure the correct camera model (Canon 10D)

is set in the first row of the da-
tabase
- Type in the parameters in the input masks:
