5.2.2 Program memory
(1) Definition of program memory
The program memory is a memory for storing programs required for operations in the
High Performance model QCPU, Process CPU, Redundant CPU, and Universal
model QCPU.
The Universal model QCPU transfers the program from the program memory to the
program cache memory to perform operations. (
The program stored in the standard ROM
or memory card is booted (read) to
the program memory to perform operation. (
Note2
(2) Storable data
The program memory can store parameters, intelligent function module parameters,
programs, device comments, device initial values and user setting system area data.
(
POINT
The capacity of the program memory is the same as the program capacity of each
module (
Section 5.2.1(3)).
If the total volume of the data to be stored into the program memory exceeds its
capacity, examine the following.
1. Reduce the user setting system area.
2. Transfer the data other than the programs to the standard ROM or a memory
card.
(3) Before using the program memory
Before using the program memory, be sure to format it by GX Developer.
(a) Formatting
To format the program memory, choose [Online] [Format PLC memory] on GX
Developer, and select "Program memory/Device memory" as the target memory.
