If the keyless operation key is
not operating properly

The following operation can be used to start
the engine or change the operation mode.
1. Depress the brake pedal firmly with your
right foot (CVT) or the clutch pedal
(M/T).
2. While depressing the brake pedal (CVT)
or the clutch pedal (M/T), touch the por-
tion of the keyless operation key shown
in the illustration to the engine switch.
3. If the keyless operation key is recog-
nized, the indication lamp (A) on the en-
gine switch illuminates in green, and
then the engine can be started and the
operation mode can be changed within
approximately 10 seconds. Refer to
“Starting the engine” on page 6-19 and
“Changing the operation mode” on page
6-16.
NOTE
l If metal objects or other keys are near the
keyless operation key, the keyless operation
key may not be recognized.
l Instead of depressing the brake pedal, the
keyless operation key can also be recognized
in the same way within approximately 30
seconds after pushing the engine switch.
l To change the operation mode without start-
ing the engine, release the brake pedal
(CVT) or the clutch pedal (M/T) after the in-
dication lamp on the engine switch illumi-
nates in green, and then press the engine
switch.

CAUTION
l Do not run the engine at high speeds (for ex-
ample, by revving it or by accelerating rap-
idly) immediately after starting it.
CAUTION
l
Do not stop the engine immediately after
high-speed or uphill driving. First allow the
engine to idle to give the turbocharger a
chance to cool down.
Turbocharger
The turbocharger increases engine power by
pushing large amounts of air into the engine’s
cylinders. The finned parts inside the turbo-
charger turn at extremely high speeds and are
subjected to extremely high temperatures.
They are lubricated and cooled by engine oil.
If the engine oil is not replaced at the speci-
fied intervals, the bearings may seize or emit
abnormal noise.
