2.2
HEATING
Clear the grate top surface and empty the ash box before each use. Load the fire chamber loosely
with dry firewood; no more than one-half of the chamber may be filled. Never fill the fire chamber
over two-thirds of its height. Place good kindling on top of the firewood. Pull the stove ash box out
by approx. 3-5 cm. Make sure that the chimney damper (if present) is fully open. Light up the
kindling and close the firewood hatch. Lighting from the top minimises emissions. Use the stove
ash box to adjust the draft. When the desired temperature has been reached, reducing the draft is
recommended. Add firewood when the heat output starts to fade. Adding about two pieces of
firewood at a time is sufficient for upholding proper sauna temperature.
Heating of the sauna stove should continue long enough to ensure drying of the stove after the
sauna session. This extends the service life of the stove and the sauna.
Note! The heater must not be overheated. Overheating reduces the service life of a heater. The
colour of the steel of the heater's frame must not be brighter red than cranberry red, for example.
If the heater is overheated, and there is still burning fuel left, close the ash box to limit further
combustion. Let the heater cool down, and increase the ventilation of the sauna, if necessary.
Note! When heating the sauna stove, the firewood hatch knob and ash box handle may become
hot enough to burn the skin. While the stove is hot, use the glove that came with the stove or a
similar tool for handling thereof.
Note! During use, the firewood hatch must be closed.
2.3
WATER
Always use clean water complying with the quality requirements to drinking water. Factors
influencing water quality include the following: humus content (less than 12 mg/l is recommended);
iron content (less than 0.2 mg/l is recommended); hardness, the most important elements being
manganese (Mn) (less than
0.05 mg/l is recommended) and calcium (Ca) (less than 100 mg/l is recommended). Water rich
in humus (for example, lake water) should not be thrown onto the stones, in order to avoid
depositions. Impurities possibly contained in the water will also soil the sauna stove’s outer
mantle. Use of seawater is strictly prohibited.
2.4
MAINTENANCE
Clean the sauna stove’s smoke flues in connection with sweeping the chimney or immediately as
the heat output decreases. In case of models 11108, 11208, and 11308, the cleaning aperture plug
in the stove front wall must be removed to access the smoke flues.
Empty the ash box and clear the grate top surface before each use.
Rearrange and check the stones once a year; change them, if necessary. In this connection, clean
the sauna stove steel surfaces from stone residue.
Sauna stove outer mantle components can be cleaned by damp cloth while the stove is cold. Do
not use abrasive products.
