Multifunctional measuring equipment
and binoculars from MINOX are already
well-established as ideal, reliable compan-
ions for all sorts of outdoor activities. Now,
for all low-light activities, whatever they
may be, MINOX have developed a small,
lightweight night vision ‘scope, the MINOX
NV mini which lets you observe your
subjects with utmost discretion, even in
advanced twilight.

When binoculars approach their optical
limits, even those with top-end light-
gathering power and high twilight factors,
this is when night-vision comes into its
own. The remaining natural light – even

light conditions where the human eye is
unable to function – will be fully amplified.
The outstanding multicoated lens system
reproduces viewed subjects to a clear and
sharp image. The optical system of the
NV mini gives a 2x magnification. When
the available light is not sufficient, an
integrated infrared illuminator can be
switched on. This additional luminous
source, not perceivable by the human eye
provides comfortable observation even in
total darkness.

Its ultra compact dimensions of only 33 x
41 x 107 mm (1.3 x 1.6 x 4.2 inches) and its
minimal weight of only 180 g (6.35 oz.)
make the NV mini so ideal for many uses.
As well as its outstanding technical quali-
ties, the device also stands out with its
exceptional design. The ergonomic shape
of the body, partially coated with rubber
armouring permits noiseless and reliable
handling. The NV mini is therefore the
ideal companion for all outdoor activities at
night or in poor lighting conditions.

Night visions are opto-electronical viewing devi-
ces. Equipped with photocathode tubes, they en-
hance the remaining light at night to enable the
user to see where it is too dark for the human eye.

Mode of operation :

1) The remaining light is collected in the lens

and will be focussed on the photocathode
tube.

2) Inside the photocathode tube is a photo

cathode which transforms the light energy
(Photons) into electrical energy (Electrons).

3) In an electrostatic field inside the photo-

cathode tube the Electrons are accelerated
and hit the phosphorus screen at a high
velocity. The collision frees light (Photons)
on the other side. The light intensity is now
much higher than it was before it entered
the photocathode tube.
